Mrs. Emma Junis Died Saturday November 8
Mrs. Emma Junis, 75, died Saturday, November 8th at 1:30 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Colleyn Orcutt on South Goodrich St., where she had resided for the past two years. Mrs. Junis had suffered three cerebral hemorrhages within a five day period prior to her death.
Born March 17, 1883 in Pardeeville, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of August and Mary Nehring Bock. Mrs. Junis had been a resident of Colfax the past 49 years and was a member of the local Christian Church. She also held membership in the Colfax Woman’s Club and the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary. She was united in marriage to Charles Junis on Dec. 10, 1909 at Portage, Wisconsin, and it was shortly after their marriage they moved to Colfax.
She and her husband operated candy stores in this city and Newton for many years, gaining recognition as excellent makers of candy. Following her husband’s death in August 1946, Mrs. Junis continued to operate a business in the downtown and only when her health failed about two years ago, was she forced to give it up.
She is survived by two brothers, Charles Bock of California, Julius Bock of Omaha, Nebr., and one sister, Mrs. Augustus Fox of Newark, New Jersey. Several nieces and nephews also mourn her passing.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon November 10th at 2:00 p.m. from the Christian Church with Rev. Neville G. Clayton, pastor, officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Schmitt, organist.
Bearers were Harold Taylor, Oray Schmitt, Bruce Annis, Lee Schmitt, Leland Lester and Henry Pratt.
Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
