James Mackey, an old citizen of Poweshiek township, fell dead at his home near the old Pittsburg coal mine, last Tuesday evening, from heart disease. Dr. Turner, who happened to be visiting a neighbor nearby was called in, at once, but could do nothing for the unfortunate man, who was breathing his last when the doctor arrive.
Mr. Mackey was well known in Poweshiek township, and especially among the mining population, with whom he has associated for many years. The funeral was from the late residence of the deceased, Thursday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. A. E. Griffith. An immense crown of his old neighbors and friendsd were in attendance and the interment was at the Poweshiek cemetery.

Poweshiek (Township) Points - Mr. James Mackey, an old settler of Poweshiek, died of heart disease, aged 49 years. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Griffith on Thursday p.m. at his late home.
