Mrs. Elizabeth Altes Died at Home of Daughter
Elizabeth Shriner Altes, daughter of John and Elizabeth Shriner, was born in Germany on November 28th, 1867 and passed away September 9th, 1947 at the home of her daughter, Katie Baldwin at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 12 days.
She came to this country with her parents in 1879. On January 29, 1885, she was united in marriage to John Altes, and to this union was born four children, Hattie Boucher, George and John, all of Mingo and Katie Baldwin of Farrar.
Elizabeth was converted to the Christian faith in early childhood and in 1881 she joined the Zion Evangelical Church, of which she was a faithful and devoted member. Throughout her entire lifetime, her God was her first thought. She was a kind and loving mother, and was always willing and ready to help those who needed her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, and she leaves to mourn her departure, her four children, one sister, Mrs. George Altes of Steele, North Dakota, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of loving neighbors and friends.
