James C. Smool Dies at Age 38, Funeral Tuesday
James Clifford Smool, 38, trucker who lived eight miles southeast of Newton, died yesterday morning at his home following a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o’clock at Toland Funeral Home with Rev. S. A. Bullers officiating. Burial will be in the Rohrbaugh cemetery near Colfax.
Mr. Smool was slightly crippled as the result of an injury suffered two years ago when a tree fell on him. He was shaken up considerably the night before his death as the result of a fall down the basement steps.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Bertha Jane, 14, and Frances, 12; one son, Dennis Ray, four months; his mother, Mrs. Bertha Smool of Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Edwin Erginbright of Ashland, Ky., Mrs. Luther Snyder of Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. J. J. Bayles of Grinnell; and four brothers, Lyle, Glenn and Virgil, all of Newton, and John of Grinnell.
