W. C. Stouffer Dies at His Home in Colfax
Colfax – William Coulter Stouffer, retired Colfax farmer, and member of the Newton Daily News Three Quarter Century club, died Saturday at his home in Colfax.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon from the Howard street Christian Church with Rev. W. E. Goughnour in charge.
Mrs. George Rinker and Mrs. George Robinson accompanied by Mrs. S. E. Tennant will provide appropriate music.
Mrs. Myrtle Tripp, Mrs. Dota Boyd Falcon and Mrs. Howard Pigg will be in charge of the flowers.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Story, Archie Engle, Ivan Binkerd, Howard Williams, Wilbur Murphy and Floyd Clippenger.
Mr. Stouffer, the son of Christian and Amelia Reich Stouffer, was born Nov. 12, 1862 in Westmoreland county, Penn. He came to Colfax in 1900 and was united in marriage to Effie A. Whitehead, Feb. 20, 1902.
He retired from the farming business about three years ago.
Survivors are his widow, a daughter Helen, who is a teacher in the Davenport schools, two sons, Lawrence W. Stouffer of Davenport and Gerald Austin Stouffer of Des Moines; four grandsons, Stephen, Scott, Keith and David Stouffer and one granddaughter, Helen Louise Stouffer.
