Mrs. S. W. Weston Dies; Services Sunday at Ira
Ira (Special) – Mrs. Sidney W. (Katie May) Weston, 76, a longtime resident of Jasper county, died Thursday at the William Brockway home in Newton after suffering a heart attack.
Mrs. Weston, a practical nurse, had been employed at the Brockway home – where she also resided – for the past six years.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ira Christian church.
The Rev. Glenn Coleman, pastor of the Bethany Evangelical and Reformed church near Baxter, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Union Chapel cemetery at Ira.
Boyd-Nickell funeral home in Baxter is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Weston will lie in state at the Boyd-Nickell funeral home at Baxter until Sunday morning.
Mrs. Weston is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Cecilia Iske of Ira, Mrs. Frank (Lillie) Rippey of Ira and Mrs. Edward (Pearle) Powleske of Mingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Weston was a member of the Ira Christian church, the Ira Grange and the Goddard Sunshine club.
The daughter of Andrew and Mary Trusler, she was born February 2, 1883 on a farm near Ira.
Educated in rural schools, she was married to Sidney W. Weston in Newton October 19, 1910.
After her marriage she resided in Ira assisting her husband in the operation of the general store. After Mr. Weston’s death in 1953, Mrs. Weston moved to Newton.
