Carolyn Sue Horn, 91, of Des Moines passed from this life on Thursday, December 09, 2021, at her home. A private family funeral service will be held.

Sue, the daughter of Hugh and Dorothy (Bruce) Hoft, was born on January 9, 1930, in Newton. She attended schools in Newton and Council Bluffs. On March 26, 1948, Sue was united in marriage with Herb Horn in Newton. They spent 68 years together and raised four children: Demares, Rebecca, Bruce, and Deborah. Sue worked in the accounting department for Cherry-Burrell in Cedar Rapids and for G.T.E. for 20 years in Grinnell, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed being with family, traveling, playing cards, and reading.

Those left to honor her memory are her four children, Demares (Jack) Lorenzen of The Villages, Florida, Becky (Greg) Gladfelder of Des Moines, Bruce Horn of Stateline, Nevada, and Deborah (Mark) Petersen of Harlan; and nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Rod Hoft, and her husband Herb on September 28, 2016.
