Tragic Death of Jerry Morris, 15, Stuns Students
The students of Newton high school were stunned by the news of the automobile accident which claimed the life of Jerry Morris, 15, on the night of Nov. 10.
Jerry was born November 12, 1933, in Des Moines. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Morris. Jerry was a good scholar as well as an outstanding athlete. He showed promising ability as a quarterback, and an outstanding half-miler on the track team. We will not only remember Jerry as a good athlete and scholar, but as a true companion and friend.
Bill Moffitt, 16, the driver of the car, received minor cuts and bruises, while Larry “Tick” Ferguson, 15, suffered a broken collarbone. Both boys are reported doing nicely.
