Gilbert Keeney Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday
Prairie City – Gilbert Nelson Keeney, 84, died Thursday evening at the home of his son, Morris, near Vandalia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of the Brethren south of Prairie City.
The Rev. Edward Zook, minister of the church, and the Rev. Robert Anderson of Galesburg, Ill., will conduct the services. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Keeney is survived by three sons, Lawrence of Grinnell, Paul N. of Runnells and Morris; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Edith Reade of Winterset.
He was a member of the Brethren Church in Norwood.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Keeney, he was born April 17, 1877 at Selby, Iowa.
He was married to Mattie V. Morris Aug. 6, 1902 at Liberty. Mrs. Keeney died in 1959.
Mr. Keeney farmed south of Prairie City for 15 years.
