Jack D. Johnson, 75, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Jack was born January 8, 1931 to Clarence J. and Gladyce Johnson in Runnells, Iowa. He retired from Puckett Tool and Fasteners in 1998 after many years of service.
Jack was a member of the Acanthus Lodge. He graduated from East High in 1949 and was still an active member and served as the treasurer of the group. Jack was a mediator for the Polk County Small Claims Court and active in Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and Royal Order of Jesters. He loved to play pitch which he took very seriously. Jack as also very proud of the fact that his birthday was the same as Elvis.
Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy Johnson; two daughters, Vicky (Rich) Howe of Mesa, AZ and Becky Sue Johnson (David Niswander) of Des Moines; son, Kirk Johnson of Des Moines; brother, Robert Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ; two sisters, Carolyn Tagatz and Diane (Sue) Renaud both of Sun Lakes, AZ; four step-children, Lori Grismore, Scott Durrell, David (Jamie) Durrell and Shawn (Kelli) Durrell; and nine grandchildren, Cole Johnson, Aimee Grismore, Aaron Rowe, Autumn Grismore, Alex Rowe, Adrianna Durrell, Abbi Durrell, Blake Durrell and William Durrell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital.
Jack was a beloved, husband, father, father figure, brother, grandfather and friend of many. He will be deeply missed.
Celebration of Life at Christopher’s from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
