Grace Meister, Former Resident, Dies on Sunday
Prairie City – Mrs. William (Grace Irma) Meister, 42, of Altoona, a former resident of Prairie City, died Sunday afternoon at the Des Moines General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Altoona Methodist Church.
The Rev. Richard Bentzinger, minister of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery near Prairie City.
Walters Funeral Home at Prairie City is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Meister is survived by her husband; two children, Mrs. Margaret Ann Stout of Des Moines and William at home; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Smith of Des Moines and Mrs. Gladys Hargis of Ankeny; and three brothers, Clarence F. Bowers of Mitchellville, Lloyd M. Bowers of Bondurant and George L. Bowers of Des Moines.
The daughter of Fred and Nellie Bowers, she was born July 1, 1922 at Prairie City.
She later resided in Des Moines and Adel as well as Altoona where she lived for the past 14 years.
She was married to William J. Meister April 18, 1942 at Bethany, Mo.
