Services Held
Funeral services for Cecil Miller, 76, a lifelong resident of the Runnells area, were held Friday, June 7, 1996, at Walters-Coburn Funeral home in Prairie City.
The Rev. Gary Cox conducted services.
Burial was in Vandalia Cemetery.
Mr. Miller died Wednesday, June 5, 1996, at the Des Moines General Hospital.
Survivors are his wife, Opal; two daughters, Judy (Mrs. Dick) Livesay of Van Meter and Norma (Mrs. Roger) Breckenridge of Monroe; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry “Butch” and Donna of Runnells; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Kenneth of Runnells; and two sisters, Anna Parrott of DeWitt and Dorothy Tratchel of Killduff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Merle Mahaffey, Viola Wicker, Sylvia DeReus and Lorene Rosborough, and three brothers, Everett, Calvin and a brother in infancy.
The son of Lowman and Cora Fleming Miller, he was born January 25, 1920, near Vandalia in Jasper County.
He was married to Opal Grimes June 16, 1938, in Polk County.
They resided in the rural Runnells area and farmed in the Bennington area all of their married life.
