Services Held
Services for Mildred Cox were held Friday, May 28, 1999, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. William Calhoun, pastor for the First Presbyterian Church in Newton, officiated the services. Burial was in Vandalia Cemetery in Vandalia, Iowa.
Mildred passed away Tuesday morning, May 25, 1999, at Clearview Manor in Prairie City of cancer. She had resided in Prairie City since 1994.
Mildred was born March 28, 1928, in Jasper County and was a high school graduate. She married Glenn Leo Hawkins July 17, 1947, in Clarydon, Arkansas.
Surviving are one son, Garry Hawkins and his wife, Kathryn of Altoona; one daughter, Dixie and David Wade of Newton; 4 grandchildren: Matthew Wade; Rodney Hawkins, Joshua Wade, and Rhonda Hawkins; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Sharp of Hoffman Estates Illinois.
Preceding her death were her parents and her husband, Glenn Leo Hawkins in 1967.
