Phyllis M. Fleming, 59, of rural Runnells, died Tuesday, March 30, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital of cancer. Services were held Thursday, April 1, at Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Runnells, with burial at Vandalia Cemetery in Vandalia.
Mrs. Fleming was born in Polk County and had lived in the Runnells area most of her life. She was a member of Woodland Hills Church of Christ, Woodland Hills Garden Club and Order of Eastern Star 518 in Runnells.
Survivors include her husband, Lester; two sons, Steven of Des Moines and Jeffrey of Ames; three daughters, Teresa Apple of Washington, D.C., Frances Konecny of Decatur, Ala., and Susan Harpe of Falls Church, Va.; her mother, Flossie McClelland of Des Moines; a sister, Beth Miller of Runnells; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
