Prairie City – Esten L. Enyart, 81, of Prairie City died Thursday evening, Oct. 15, at the Des Moines General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Prairie City. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Walters-Coburn funeral Home in Prairie City after 7 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Association will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Ruth; a son, Gordon of Prairie City; a daughter, Eunice (Mrs. Robert) Jennings of Prairie City; and 12 step-children, Jim foreman of Prairie City, Betty Todd of Kearny, N.J., Janice Deady of Norwalk, N.Y., Ray Foreman of Tucson, Ariz., Linda Luciano of Clifton, N.Y., Deborah Klemm of Minot, N.D., Darlene Johnson of Lompoc, Calif., Larry Foreman of Glendive, Mont., Elaine Gokey of Franklin, N.J., Leona Linch of Glendive, Mont., Mildred Green of San Antonio, Tex., and Dale Leivestad of Glendive, Mont.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren and a sister, Eloise Kirkpatrick of Indianola.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mildred, a twin sister and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Enyart, a retired farmer, also had been a rural school teacher.
The son of Albert and Marcella Bates Enyart, he was born June 30, 1906 in Swan and was a 1925 graduate of Runnells Community High School.
He was married to Mildred English May 1, 1927 and to Ruth Leivestad April 21, 1985.
Mr. Enyart was a member of the Morgan Valley Christian church for more than half a century.
