O. E. Decker Dies Saturday; Rites Tuesday
Prairie City – Orie Edward Decker, 83, of Prairie City died Saturday morning at the Clear View Manor in Prairie City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
The Rev. Harold Leverton of the Faith Baptist Church in Prairie City will conduct services. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home.
Survivors are his wife, Lottie; a son, H. Ray Decker of Manassas, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Ruth) Marino of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. Herman (Betty) Hadsall of Roswell, N.M.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Mr. Decker, a longtime farmer, was a member of the Prairie City Christian Church.
The son of Filo and Jesse Phillips Decker, he was born Sept. 8, 1897 in Polk County.
He was married to Lottie Hawkins Aug. 23, 1922 in Des Moines
