Junior “Dale” Vanderpool, 84, of Lander Wyo., formerly of Colfax, Iowa, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Lander Regional Hospital.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 17, at Hudson’s Funeral Home in Lander. Inurnment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lander, Wyo.
Dale was born Aug. 9, 1925. His parents were Cleo and Roland Krebs and Clifford Vanderpool. He grew up in the Prairie City, Iowa, area and graduated from Colfax High School in 1946. Dale farmed in Colfax for 34 years before retiring. He married Beverly Jean Peterson on Oct. 24, 1992, in Lander, Wyo. Dale loved the mountains and lived at the base of the Rockies.
He is survived by his children, Kenny Vanderpool and wife Chris of Russell, Iowa, and Debbie Karsten and husband Terry of Newton, Iowa; a sister, Margaret Kunze and husband Jerry of Altoona, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Richard Miles of Waterloo, Iowa; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; his sister, Helen Miles; two brothers, Jim and Howard Vanderpool; and a grandson, Steven Karsten.
He enjoyed the company of his family and friends and will be missed by all.
