William 'Bill' Stokes, 61, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, October 5, 2009 at Staves Memorial United Methodist Church followed by burial at Vandalia Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 6 pm Sunday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Bill was born November 29, 1947 in Chester, SC. He retired from the Des Moines Public Library. William was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Scottish Rite and Staves Memorial United Methodist Church.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Cathy; mother, Dorothy Pearl Stokes; and his brother, Hinton Mahon Stokes II.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hinton Mahon Stokes.
