Jennie M. Shannon, 83, of Norwalk died of a heart ailment Friday at Regency Care Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial at Vandalia Cemetery in Runnells.
Mrs. Shannon was born in Haverhill, Mass., and lived in Des Moines 62 years before moving to the care center two months ago. She retired after 26 years as a sewing machine operator for Dickson Industries. She was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Juanita Creason, Julia Channon, Maralyn Smith-Stanley and Carolyn Shannon all of Des Moines; a son, Lee of Arlington, Texas; three sisters, Ruth Bernard of Biddeford, Maine, and Emma Smith and Frances McGrahan, both of Haverhill; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today and until service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
