The Obituary of Roy E. Cavett
On the 2nd day of July Roy E. Cavett passed away at his home, 1165 Twenty-seventh street, Des Moines, Iowa, following an illness of four years.
Roy was born October 5, 1884, at Vandalia, Iowa, where he grew to manhood, later going to Runnells, where for four years he was cashier of the Farmers Savings Bank.
While there he was married to Grace Fritz, of Des Moines, and moved later to Des Moines.
Prior to his sickness he had worked for the past fifteen years for the R. L. Polk Directory Co., with headquarters at Detroit, Michigan.
Shortly after his breakdown, he went to Broadlawns Tubercular hospital in Des Moines, where he remained several months, then to The Woodman Sanitorium in Colorado. After almost a year’s time he came back to his home in Des Moines, and continued to fight the disease, which was slowly sapping his life away. About a month ago he grew worse and the threads of life to which he had so desperately clung began to weaken and so continued until the time of his passing on July 2nd.
Roy was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Runnells, Iowa and a member of the M.W. of America with Camp 152 at Prairie City.
He leaves to mourn his loss his father, J. I. Cavett, of Vandalia, his mother, Mrs. Jennie Cavett of Des Moines, a sister, Mrs. H. H. Utterback, also of Des Moines, half sister, Gladys Cavett of Vandalia, and a daughter, Dorothy of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He was laid to rest in the Vandalia cemetery.
