William R. Rice Rites Monday
Services for William R. Rice, 82, of 511 S.E. Thornton Ave., will be 3 p.m. Monday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home with burial at Vandalia Cemetery.
Mr. Rice was dead on arrival at Methodist Hospital Saturday. He died of a heart attack.
He was born in Runnells and lived in Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada, before moving to Des Moines 35 years ago. He was employed in farming and mining.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Coen, Mrs. Mayme Decker, and Mrs. Emma Albright, all of Des Moines, and Mrs. Joyce Taylor of Washington, Ia.; two sons, Wesley of Kingsville, Tex., and Lloyd of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Stuart, of St. Paul, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
