Prairie City – Funeral services for Albert W. Harmison, 86, a resident of Prairie City for 31 years, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
Fred Redhead, pastor of the Word of Life Assembly of God in Mitchellville, will conduct services.
Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home and visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa will be accepted.
Mr. Harmison died Monday morning at his home in Prairie City.
Survivors are his wife, Harriet; three sons, Clarence of Denver, Colo., Bill of Indianola and Laverne of Colfax; two daughters, Margaret Gulling of Seattle, Wash., and Janice Brouwer of Prairie City; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth De Joode of Runnells.
Mr. Harmison was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
He was a member of the Word of Life Assembly of God in Mitchellville.
The son of Willard and Verna Dell West Harmison, he was born Sept. 17, 1907 in Runnells and was a 1927 graduate of Runnells High School and a barber college.
He was married to Harriet Myrtle Cooper May 20, 1927 in Des Moines.
He was a barber in Des Moines, Vandalia and Runnells, worked for 25 years for Caldwell’s west of Prairie city and for McKlveen Lumber in Prairie city for several years.
