Albert Harvey Jones
March 25, 1929 ~ October 21, 2021 (age 92)

Albert Harvey Jones, 92, of Newton died on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at his home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021, in the Veteran’s Section of Newton Union Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3-6 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to Discover Hope may be left at the funeral home.

Albert, the son of Alvin Wesley and Nora May (Daub) Jones, was born on March 25, 1929, in Osceola, Iowa. He grew up on a farm by Murray and graduated from Murray High School in 1947. Albert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. Upon returning he lived, by Murray and farmed for many years. On August 25, 1961, Albert was united in marriage with Laura Mae Young in Des Moines. In 1977, the left Murray and eventually made their home in Monroe until 2007. While living there Albert worked in maintenance for Central College and after retiring from there at the Newton Hy-Vee, until completely retiring in 2003. In 2007, Albert and Laura moved to Newton. Following Laura’s death in 2012, Albert was united in marriage with Judith (Callison) Parsons on October 11, 2014, in Richmond, Missouri.

Albert was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), a past Deacon at the Murray Church of Christ, a member of Assembly of God Church in Newton for many years, and was currently attending Grace Church. Albert enjoyed flower gardening, collecting rocks and sea shells, doing word and table puzzles and reading. He was very proud of his time in the service and being a member of the 2013 Jasper County Freedom Flight.

Albert is survived by his wife, Judy Parsons Jones of Newton; daughters, Pamela “Enie” (Dwight) Clevenger of Goodman, Missouri, Denice “Menie” Smith of Goodman, Missouri, Laura Lee “Minie” (Gus) Straight of Newton, and Susan “Moe” Ham of Newton; grandchildren, Jamie (Sara) Jeter, Cory Wilcox, Andrea Wilcox (Ryan Myers), Kalee (Eddie) Carey, Tyler Danley, Treyton Ham, Taylor Danley, Emma Ham, Grace Ham, and Urban Ham; his nine great-grandchildren; his step-children, Kevin Parsons of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jeffery Parsons of Kellogg; sister, Patricia Smith of Kansas City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of his daughters, Laura Jones; daughter in infancy, Debra; two sons-in-law, Rodger Danley and Larry Smith; step-son, Robert Parsons; and brother, Merlyen Jones.
