Douglas Robert McCall, age 76 of Urbandale, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at MercyOne in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 4:00 - 5:30 pm on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. There will be a celebration of life service beginning at 5:30 on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Douglas McCall Memorial Fund and checks can be made out to John McCall. The son of Robert and Olive McCall, Doug was born on August 12, 1945 in Rhode Island. He worked as an accountant at DeVries Zimmer Accounting in Clive. Doug enjoyed playing cards and slot machines; he loved going to prairie meadows. He also enjoyed spending time with family, going on many family trips and Thanksgiving and Christmas family gatherings. He was a very humorous guy who made everyone laugh, always had a good comeback, very kind and loving. Doug had several nicknames; Papa Smurf, Doug, Uncle Bob and the most used nickname was Brother. We all called him Brother because he was like a brother to everyone. His passion was his dog Ginger, a miniature schnauzer, whom he took everywhere, and did everything for her. He loved Ginger very much.

Those left to honor his memory include a brother, John (Sheila) McCall; a brother-in-law, Mike Benjamin and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Doug in death were his parents and two sisters, Helen Benjamin and Marcia Eaves and her husband Farrell.
