Marie Perry, 69, Former Jasper Resident Dies

Mrs. Lowell (Martha Marie) Perry, 69, of Fairfield Bay, Ark., a longtime former Jasper County resident , died Thursday at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the United Methodist Church in Monroe.

The Rev. T. A. Thompson, retired pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Gifford Cemetery of Monroe.

Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Monroe is handling arrangements.

Survivors are her husband, two sons, Donald Ray Van Baale of Monroe and Marvin Van Houweling of Monroe; a daughter, Eva Curtis of Cedar Rapids, and four foster daughters, Mrs. John Strickland, Mrs. D. B Carter, and Mrs Lula Simbro, all of Monroe, and Mrs. Raymond Rickabaugh of Des Moines.

Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. John Koder; four grandchildren, a brother, Elvin Koder of Prairie City, and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Bailey of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her father; her first husband Jacob Van Baale May 30, 1934; her second husband, Abram Van Houweling, May 24, 1937, two grandchildren and two brothers.

Mrs. Perry who had been employed in Monroe for many years and at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton, was a member of the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Baxter Senior Citizens and a member of the Royal Neighbors.

The daughter of Jacob and Ida Stine Koder, she was born May 19, 1908 in Newton and was raised and educated in the Monroe community.

She was married to Jacob Van Baale Dec 22, 1926, to Abram Van Houweling Oct 4, 1935, and to Lowell Perry Aug 11, 1965.
