Oron Thompson Dies on Monday; Rites Wednesday

Oron Kirby Thompson, 44, of 217 E. 10th St. S. a resident since 1935, died Monday at the Veterans Hospital in Des. Moines

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Toland Funeral Home.

The Rev. Thomas Burke, minister of the Immanuel Baptist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Coleen; three sons, John of Oskaloosa, and Rex and Richard at home.; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Sandra Jean) McFarland of Newton, Mrs. Kenneth (Rena) Brant of Colo, Iowa and Linda at home; and four grand-children.

He is also survived by three brothers, Eli Thompson of Des. Moines, Doc E. Thompson of San Jose, Calif., and U. Z. Thompson of Fremont, Calif., and five sisters, Miss Cecil Thompson of Hawthorne, Calif., Jean Haller of Los Angeles, Calif., Stella Copher of Handford, Calif., Ruby Mae Thompson of Long Beach, Calif., and Pearl Clark of Quapa, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, U.Z. and Colma Davis Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post No. 1655.

He was born Nov 19, 1919 at Joplin, Mo.

He was married to Coleen Rexroat Nov 25, 1939 at Gilman.
