Colfax – Memorial services for Ray O Owens, 72, of Alhambra, Calif., a former resident of Colfax, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Newton.
The Rev. Daryl Pals, pastor of the church will conduct services. Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.
He died Tuesday, March 28, at the home of Jean Connelly of California, who was taking care of him at the time of his death from cancer.
Cremation was held.
Survivors are three sisters, Hannah (Mrs. Glenn) Duffy and Shirley (Mrs. Edward) Winton, both of Newton, and Winifred (Mrs. Robert) Warrick of Valeria; five nephews; four nieces; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Leonard Thomas.
Mr. Owens, who served in the Navy during World War II, had been employed at Lockheed in Loss Angeles, Calif., prior to his retirement.
The son of Leonard and Edna Minerva Woodyard Owens, he was born Oct. 20, 1922 in Colfax and was graduated from Colfax Community High School.
