Thomas Mac Oswalt, 77, of Colfax died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at his home following a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 39, at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax with burial following at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 28, at the funeral home.

The son of Edward Middleton and Florence May Oswalt, Mac was born on March 16, 1935, not far from the 1880’s mining town of Oswalt. He is a veteran and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. On August 22, 1956, he was united in marriage to Doris Arleen Maddison. From this union came three children: Steven, Sherri and Kristina. Mac worked many years for the Monroe Company in Colfax, San Pasqual School district in Winter Haven, California and retired from Midland Manufacturing in 1997. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and anything outdoors. He also enjoyed a good bargain and was sure to tell you about it.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, six sisters and a daughter, Sherri Davidson Lewis.
Those left to honor his memory include his son, Steve (Linda) Oswalt, daughter, Kris (Andy) Smith, both of Colfax; a sister Frieda Oswalt, his life partner of 32 years, Darlene Peterson and her extended family. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. A special niece, Linda Oswalt Logan, who had a special place in his heart and so helpful in his declining days.
