Former Resident H. W. Oswalt Died In Des Moines
Had Resided In Newton For Number of Years; Funeral Thursday Afternoon
H. W. Oswalt, 49, former Colfax resident, died Sunday at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. He had been a resident of Newton the past several years and was Maytag Plant No. 2 supervisor of guards.
Mr. Oswalt was born in Colfax in 1902 the son of Micheal and Mary Oswalt and spent his boyhood days here attending the Colfax schools.
He was united in marriage July 22, 1921 to Lola Coopman, of Knoxville.
Mr. Oswalt was much interested in sports and in recent years managed the Maytag ball teams and other organizations in Newton.
Survivors include his wife and four children, Phyllis, who lives at home, Pfc. Phillip, Moses Lake, Washington, Air Force base; Glen, Newton and Lt. Owen, Columbus, Ga.
Brothers and sisters surviving him are Charles, Chicago; John, Michigan City, Ind.; Mrs. Anne Ballard, Melrose; Louis, Kingsville, Mo.; Mrs. Edith Brown, Arthur and Harold, all of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Roscoe Lay, Chariton.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday afternoon with interment in the McKeever cemetery, north of Colfax.
