Mrs. Anna Lena Berkenbosch, 85, Dies on Sunday
Prairie City – Mrs. Benjamin Franklin (Anna Lena) Berkenbosch, 85, a longtime resident of the Prairie City community, died Sunday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Christian Church in Prairie City.
The Rev. William Miller, pastor of the Church of the Brethren south of Prairie City, will conduct services. Burial will be in Griffis Cemetery at Monroe.
Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are three children, Mrs. Donovan (Doris) Blood of Altoona; Byrl Berkenbosch of Adel and Dale F. Berkenbosch of Prairie City; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Wayland of Butler, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Sept. 15, 1942.
The daughter of Thomas Chapman and Anna Laura Clark Jones, she was born Sept. 8, 1891 in Prairie City.
She was a graduate of Hume, Mo., High School and Highland park College in Des Moines. She taught for several years in rural schools in the Prairie City area.
She was married Feb. 21, 1915 at Prairie City.
