Death Calls Mrs. John Hadsall
Bertha E. Ludwig was born at Carlshrue, Overslaten, Germany, on October 29th, 1858 and died at Colfax, Iowa, February 20th, 1926, being in the 69th year of her age.
In October 1875, she was united in marriage to Charles Schandek. To this union were born five children. Her husband and four children preceded her in death.
She came to America in 1889 and settled in Plummer Grove, Iowa, where she has since resided.
On October 27, 1916, she was united in marriage to John Hadsall who with her daughter, Mrs. Olga Hodgson of Colfax, still survives. One adopted son, Henry Schondak, of Bridgewater, Mass. and eight grandchildren also remain.
Mrs. Hadsall was a faithful member and attendant of the Plummer Grove M.E. Church and Sunday school as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the Pocahontas lodge of Colfax and of the Poweshiek Grange. She was always a hard worker, a kind and loving wife and mother and a patient sufferer in her last long illness.
Funeral services were held at the Colfax M.E. church on Monday, Feb. 22nd, in charge of the pastor, Rev. F. P. Quick. Interment was made in the McKeever cemetery.
