Elizabeth Stock was born in Summit county, Ohio, August 13, 1837, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas Morehead, at Des Moines, April 20, 1913. She had been in poor health with a stroke of paralysis a few days before hastened her going.
She came to Jasper county, Iowa, in 1857 with her mother’s family and has been a resident of this county most of her life.
She was united in marriage with Adam Holder who died May 9, 1907. To this union five children were born, three of whom survive. Besides the children, Walter Holder, who works at Clyde; Mrs. Sarah Kline, of Des Moines, and Mrs. Dorothy Morehead, she leaves six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was the last of this pioneer family.
The funeral was at Kintz Wednesday, April 23, at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Hoffman, of Baxter. A quartette of Baxter singers with Mrs. Jennie Goodwin at the organ furnished excellent music. The house was tastily decorated with potted plants and foliage and the casket was covered with beautiful flowers. Six old neighbors were pallbearers and interment was at Kintz where her relatives and friends are buried.
