Funeral services for Robert M. Dickinson, 64, of 704 E. 14th St. S., a lifelong resident of Newton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. William Calhoun, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral home after 2 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials to a music memorial in his name may be left at the funeral home.
He died Wednesday morning at Skiff Medical Center of cancer.
Survivors are his wife, Millie; a daughter, Ann Dickinson of Santa Monica, Calif.; a sister, Dolores Berg of Eau Claire, Wis.; and his step-father, Milo “Mike” Fane of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Dickinson, and his mother, Marie Pine Dickinson Fane.
Mr. Dickinson, chief engineering clerk, tool engineering, at the Maytag Co. for 42 years, retired in December 1989.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Jasper County Arts Council and Newton Municipal Band.
He was born June 17, 1927 in Monroe, Neb., was a 1945 graduate of Newton Community High School and attended Drake University in Des Moines.
He was married to Mildred “Millie” Salterberg June 22, 1957 in Packwood.
