William Bunse, 93, of 724 S. 4th Ave. E., a resident of Newton for 65 years, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 22, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. Jerry Doellinger, pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials in his name will be accepted.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Thursday.
Survivors are a son, Werner W. of Newton; a daughter, Edna (Mrs. Wesley) Allbery of Gretna, Neb.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Augusta, Oct. 11, 1946, four brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
Mr. Bunse, a former assembler at the Maytag Co., had been employed at the company for 35 years.
Mr. Bunse, a German Army veteran of World War I, was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the United Auto Workers, Local 997, Retirees Union.
He was born Oct. 18, 1898 in Helmighausen, Germany, and came to rural St. Louis, Mo., at the age of 27.
He was married to Augusta Mackmann in Chicago, Ill.
