Theresa J. Dankbar Ware, 84, of 827 N. 3rd Ave. W., who with her late husband, Kenneth, operated Pettit Cleaners in Newton from 1943 to 1973, died Thursday morning, Nov. 21, at her home of respiratory failure.
Requiem mass will be held at 10 .m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Reese Chapel.
The family will receive friends following tonight’s vigil service.
Memorials to the Sacred heart Catholic church or the American Lung Association may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are a grandson; three brothers, Lawrence and Raymond Dankbar, both of Marshalltown, and Roman Dankbar of Ames; and four sisters, Clara Fitzgerald of Colo, Henrietta Trowbridge of Marshalltown and Agnes Wedgewood and Elizabeth Myers, both of Marshalltown.
Mrs. Ware was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1988, a son, two brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Society, the Newton Woman’s Club and the Ikettes.
The daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Pille Dankbar, she was born Dec. 12, 1907 at Haverhill.
She attended Laurel schools and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Marshalltown and Central Iowa Business College in Marshalltown.
She was married to Kenneth R. Ware April 22, 1936 in Marshalltown.
Mrs. Ware moved to Newton from Marshalltown in 1943.
