Funeral services for Bessie L. Edge, 90, a former longtime resident of Newton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the Newton First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Saturday.
Miss Edge died Wednesday evening of heart failure at the Luther Park Health Care Center in Des Moines.
Survivors are a brother, Malcolm C. of Newton; a sister, Gladys Edge Mortensen of Rochester, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Florence Marie Edge March 11, 1981.
A homemaker, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
The daughter of Charles and Lillian Belle Cope Edge, she was born April 3, 1901 in Newton and was a graduate of Newton Community High School.
With the exception of a few years spent in South Dakota, she was a lifelong resident of Newton.
