CECILE'S OBITUARY
Cecile Fern Cooper
1941-2021

Mercer, MO: Cecile Fern Cooper, 79, of Mercer, MO and formerly of Newton/Kellogg, IA passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 6, 2021 with her family by her side.

Cecile Cooper was born the daughter of Freddie and Anita (Wright) Squires on October 29, 1941, in Numa, Iowa. She was born and raised around the Numa-Centerville area. She attended Numa schools where she graduated in 1959. She was united in marriage to Richard Carl Cormeny, Sr. in 1960. To this union five children were born. They moved to Newton, IA where she worked for the Maytag Company. They later divorced in 1979.

In 1981 she was united in marriage to Bernard Leon Cooper. After her retirement from the Maytag Company in 1992, she and Bernie moved to Mercer, MO where she worked for Lake Marie in the office for 13 years. During this time she and Bernie built their new home on Blue Grass Avenue, east of Mercer, MO in 1994 where they lived until after Bernie’s passing in 2016.

Cecile enjoyed the outdoors, helping others, collecting antiques, and painting wood crafts. During her last few years she enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel the most and spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Rachel Sowder, Mercer, MO, Richard Cormeny, Jr., Mercer, MO, Regina (Roger) VinSand, Ft. Dodge, IA, Rosalind (Randy) Van Gorp, Grinnell, IA, Rodney Cormeny, Mercer, MO, Richard (Kara) Cooper, Melcher-Dallas, IA; four siblings, Richard (Sheri) Squires, Jerome, IA, Carolyn (Mark) Kruzich, Bloomfield, IA, Judy O’Conner, Pipe Creek, TX, and Dale Squires, Killduff, IA; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard Cooper; step-daughter, Christine Cooper; daughter-in-law, Teresa Cormeny; sister-in-law, Ellen Squires; brother-in-law, Gary O’Conner and nephew, Steven Squires.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14 at Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO. Burial will follow in Early Cemetery, Mercer, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a luncheon provided by the American Legion at the Community Center in Mercer, MO following the burial. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com
