B. Maxine (McBroom) Purvis
July 6, 1923 ~ August 8, 2021 (age 98)

B. Maxine Purvis, 98, of Grinnell, formerly of Kellogg, died on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Kellogg United Methodist Church or the Grace Community Church in Grinnell may be left at the funeral home.

Maxine, the daughter of Lyle and Hazel Irene (Wastier) McBroom, was born on July 6, 1923 in Grinnell. She grew up in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School. On September 1, 1945, Maxine was united in marriage with Floyd Purvis in Kellogg. The lived most of their married life in the Kellogg area. Maxine worked for many years as a Meat Processor at the Kellogg Locker. She was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church and the Kellogg Historical Society. In 2009, Maxine and Floyd moved into Grinnell.

Maxine enjoyed traveling, going on hikes and walks, and playing dominos and card games. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and loved volunteering and being active in the church.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Denise Sedlock of Grinnell; son-in-law, Charles (Margaret) Foster of Newton; grandchildren, Ben Rupe, Jason (Jill) Foster, Jenni (Sam) Wisdom, Jordan Sedlock, and Jarrin (Nicole) Phipps; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Patricia Jeffries; brother-in-law, Freeman Purvis; sister-in-law, Florene Brown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd in 2013; three daughters, Judy Foster, Kathy (Stephen) Foster, Pam (Vernon) Gibson; four sisters; two brothers; and a sister in infancy.
