April 2, 1937 - August 7, 2021

Harvey J. Beyer, age 84 of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at West Ridge Care Center in Knoxville. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 10:00 am at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. An open visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. The family will not be present for visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire Department or Care Initiatives Hospice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Edward and Sarah (Kinart) Beyer, Harvey was born on April 2, 1937 at home in Jasper County. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1956. On February 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Marlene J. Vanden Hoek at the First Reformed Church in Sully. Harvey moved to Monroe in 1962, working at Winpower, Barber Lumber, and Diamond Crystal before retiring in 1999. Harvey was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marlene; two daughters, Karla Kay (Karsten) Schulze and Kathy Jo (Scott) Northcote; grandchildren, Ryan (Alayna Aiken) Northcote, Megan (Reid) Lanser, Martin (Kristina Schroers) Schulze and Lukas (Michelle) Schulze; a great granddaughter, Riley Lanser; and two brothers, Harold (Wilma) Beyer and David (Janice) Beyer. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Viola Burmeister and two nephews, Tom and Tim Burmeister.
