During her brief illness, she mentioned several times that she was ready to go home and was going home soon. She said she would see Jesus first. She also left the following lines and requested they be read at her funeral:
The great Jehovah full of love an angel bright did send and took me home at rest. Dearest one, thou hast left us here, Thy love we deeply feel, but its God that has brought us, he can all our sorrows heal. Then in heaven we hope to meet again, Where no farewell tears are shed.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. D. Simmons at 2:30 at the Mingo M.E. church. The mens quartette, Eldon Geisler, J. S. Brown, Ethelbert Heberer and Floyd Hulse, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Carrie Hays, sang “No Disappointment in Heaven.” “This World I Not My Home,” “Will the Circle be Unbroken,” and “Tell Mother I’ll Be There.” Pall bearers were Russell Southern, Lowell Hattery, J.
