Clear Creek News – Wm. Hamilton Sumpter was born near Colfax, Dec. 5, 1858. Died at his home near Baxter, Sept. 30, 1922, after a two months illness – paralysis.
He was united in marriage to Mary Miller in 1878. To this union five children were born, viz, Scott, now deceased, Charles of Clyde, Milo at home, Mrs. Cyntha Berry and Perry Sumpter of Independence Twp.
They cared for Mildred Sumpter Ludlow, daughter of their son Scott, after the death of her parents, when a mere babe.
Besides the wife and children, 15 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and other relatives survive to mourn the loss of a good husband, father and friend.
The funeral was held at Bethel Church, Monday at 2 p.m. and interment at Kintz Cemetery.
He is a cousin of Mrs. Sadie Krohn and Till Hise of Colfax.
