The home of L. S. Bauer has borne a sad and unusually severe affliction this week in the death of their little son Earnest, who succumbed to a short attack of scarlet fever Wednesday evening. Earnest had been sick, seriously sick less than two days when the little body yielded to the grim monster death.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon.
Earnest was a bright lad about thirteen years of age. Although the parents reside some distance from town he has for a time been a pupil in the Colfax school where he was always a great favorite among his school mates for his industry, courtesy and manliness. Last year he was a member of the ninth grade in the high school. His loss is keenly felt by all those who knew him and the sorrowing family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
