Died, last Friday morning at his home, two miles east of Ira, Jerome Roberts. Mr. Roberts has been failing for the past three or four years, but had managed to get about until, within a month or so, his mind became affected and his family had to keep a close watch to prevent him from getting out of the house and wandering off. Mr. Roberts was 61 years old.
He came from Connecticut in the sixties and has lived on his farm east of Ira ever since. Some ten years ago Mr. Roberts was counted as strong a man as any in Independence township – and was always in good health.
He leaves a wife and son, and two children have gone before – Alice, their daughter, some nine years ago, and a son 18 years ago. Mr. Roberts was a man that valued his home above all else. He was a good husband, father and neighbor. He was laid to rest in Union Chapel cemetery beside his children.
