Well Known Farmer Dies At Home Near Ira
Had Been In Failing Health For Several Months; Funeral Services Held Monday
Peter B. Lowry, 84, well known farmer residing near Ira, died at his home early Thursday morning, having slept away sometime between three and five o’clock. He had been in failing health and the forepart of May had spent a couple of weeks in the hospital, due to a heart complication.
He had been a resident of Iowa since three years of age and had become well known through his years of residence in western Jasper county. The greater part of his married life was spent on the same farm, although they lived for a few years in Colfax before going back to the farm to make their home. About four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Lowry celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with an open house for relatives and friends.
Besides his wife, nee Nellie West, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Roy Peterson of Newton, Mrs. Almond Cross of Howard, South Dakota, Miss Jessie Lowry of Minneapolis, Minn., two sons, Russell Lowry of Los Angeles, Cal., and Wilbur Lowry of Ira, two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie McIntire of Mingo and Mrs. Rose Swan of Long Beach, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Union Chapel with interment at the Union Chapel cemetery.
