Ira and Goddard – Friends of this vicinity were saddened Thursday evening when the news was passed of the death of little Gayle Gardner, the 20 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Gardner. Gayle had been very sick for the past three weeks with intestinal flu, but he was much better and all thought he was getting along alright until Thursday when he became worse and when the doctor was summoned the little one had double pneumonia and the frail little body could not stand the dreadful disease and his little spirit soon passed away into the hands of his Creator. He was the only grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Forest Inglis and a great favorite among his relatives and also among the children of the school.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church with Rev. Guest in charge. Four little boys, Morris Trussler, Elmer Iske, Robert Beals and Lloyd Kerns acted as pallbearers. Mrs. Joy Mason, Miss Marguerite Krampe, Guy Hardenburg and Harold Kaldenburg composed a quartette who sang appropriate hymns with Florence McIntire accompanying on the piano. The little body was laid to rest in the Union Chapel cemetery.
