Mingo News Items – Friends in this vicinity are extending sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dennis of Des Moines in the loss of their infant daughter, Connie Marie, who was born on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 26, and passed away Wednesday evening, Sept. 9. Being weak from birth she was placed in the incubator at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines. The last week and a half oxygen was administered constantly but after several sinking spells God saw best to remove her soul from our midst.
The funeral services were held from the Ira Christian church Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Scott in charge of the services. Rev. Scott also sang “Jewels” and “Beyond the Sunset,” with Bernard Hardy accompanied at the piano. Interment was in the Union Chapel cemetery west of Ira.
Besides the parents, she leaves to mourn her departure, the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beals of this vicinity and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Dennis of Des Moines, also four great-grandparents, one aunt and two uncles. The following poem was written for Connie by her grandmother.
Connie Marie to us was given To bud on earth Then bloom in Heaven.
Precious one, we miss you so, But Gods ways are best We also know.
So back to Him We’ll gladly give You little soul To eternally live Free from pain and sorrow.
We’ll meet you there on that glad tomorrow.
