Funeral Rites for Joe L. Coughlan Sunday at Mingo
Well Known Resident Of Mingo Died Friday At Iowa Falls
Joe L. Coughlan, 76, well known resident of Mingo and Jasper county, died Friday at the Ellsworth hospital in Iowa Falls.
Mr. Coughlan had been in poor health for some time and a few weeks ago was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lois Keel of Iowa Falls.
Born on the old Coughlan farm in Clear Creek township, Mr. Coughlan had spent his entire life in that community. Most of his life was spent in farming, but the past few years he had moved to Mingo where he engaged his time in various businesses.
He is survived by two sons, Drs. Harold and Vernon Coughlan, both in the U.S. service, one daughter, Mrs. Lois Keel of Iowa Falls and one grandchild; Miss Jennie Rider of Colfax and Mrs. Frank Baker of Newton, sisters-in-law.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Mingo Methodist church with Rev. B. H. Finch officiating.
Music was furnished by Eldon Geisler, Floyd Hulse, Otha Hulse and Ethelbert Heberer, with Mrs. L. L. Pickett accompanist.
Pallbearers were Fred Geisler, Floyd Hobbs, Albert Toms, J. L. Hartley, Russell Southern and Roy Westfall.
The flower committee was Mrs. D. d. Cummings and Mrs. E. E. Spensley.
Interment was in the Union Chapel cemetery.
