Ira and Goddard – The death of Mrs. Challie Beals has taken from us one of our oldest pioneers and one that will be greatly missed in our community. She was loved by old and young for her friendly kind way.
She was the mother of 13 children, 8 of whom are living to mourn the loss of a dear mother.
A very large funeral service was held Friday afternoon from the Methodist church and her tired body was laid to rest beside her husband at Union chapel. Rev. Stevenson, her former pastor preached a very good sermon. Mrs. Floyd Mason by request sang a very pretty solo. Several relatives and friends from a distance attended the funeral.
