Roger Lee Fuller Dies in Newton; Services Saturday
Ira – Roger Lee Fuller, 37, of Ira, a longtime resident of Jasper County, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ira Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery near Ira.
Mr. Fuller will lie in state at the Boyd-Nickell funeral home in Baxter from this evening until 9 a.m. Saturday.
Survivors are his wife, LaVerna; a son, Charles; and two daughters, Joannie and Cindy.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Nellie Fuller of Marshalltown; eight sisters, Mrs. Ray (Dessie) Carter of Marshalltown, Mrs. Carl (Marceda) Tow of Creston; Mrs. Norman (Meta) McMeekin of Gilman, Mrs. M. C. (Dottie) Farber of Marshalltown; Mrs. James (Beryl) Houser of Marshalltown; Mrs. Carl (Nelda) Holzapfel of Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Everett (Jane) Connelly of Pomona, Calif., and Mrs. Lew (Joan) Moore of Miami, Okla., and two brothers, Robert of State Center and George of Baxter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne, and his father.
The son of Elmer and Nellie Fuller, he was born May 4, 1929 in northwest Jasper County. He attended rural and Baxter schools.
He enlisted in the Army in 1946 and served a year in Korea. He was discharged in 1947 having attained the rank of sergeant.
He was married to LaVerna Gearhart Oct. 30, 1948 at Newton.
Mr. Fuller was an employee of the Central Iowa Telephone Co. for two years and of the Maytag Co., in Newton for 14 years.
He was a patient at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines for several months in 1966 after being employed at the Lennox Co. in Marshalltown.
