Mary Tramel, Ira, Dies
Colfax – Miss Mary C. Tramel, 70, daughter of the late Alex and Sara Jane Spencer Tramel, died at her home on a farm west of Ira, in the Union Chapel neighborhood, early this morning. She had been in failing health for a number of weeks.
Miss Tramel had spent her entire life in this community. She made her home with her brother, Charles Tramel. She was a member of the Methodist church of Ira. Her cousin, Miss Lettie Skinner of Des Moines, Ia., has been caring for her during her illness.
Funeral services have not been arranged.

Tramel Rites Will Be Monday
Colfax, IA (Special to The Daily News) – Funeral services for Mary C. Tramel of near Ira, who died Friday, will be held at the Ira Methodist church Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Carl Gray of Newton in charge. Burial will be in the Union Chapel cemetery near Ira.

Ira, Ia. (Special to The Daily News) – Mary C. Tramel, daughter of William Alexander and Sarah Jane Spencer Tramel, was born March 8, 1871 at the home farm west of Ira.
She received her early education at Valley school, later entering Hazel Dell academy at Newton, and also completed a business course at Highland park college in Des Moines.
After a short career in the teaching profession she was forced to retire on account of serious ear trouble.
Work With Church
She united with the Ira Methodist church when a young woman and served in many capacities. She was a charter member of the Ladies Aid society.
Early last fall Mary became ill and she died last Friday, Feb. 13, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 21 days.
Surviving relatives are a brother, Charley, with whom she lived, and second cousins. Her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death.
Funeral Services
Funeral services were held at the Ira Methodist church Monday afternoon, Feb. 16. The Rev. Carl Gray, pastor, was in charge of the rites.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Leslie Bulwalda and Miss Lela Gray, accompanist. Mrs. Z. C. Jones, Mrs. Coral Southern, Mrs. Stella Whitehead, Mrs. Raymond Loynachan, and Mrs. Loren Murphy had charge of the flowers. Pallbearers were Frank Tramel, Lloyd DeReus, Arthur Jeffries, Charley Weston, Will Price and S. W. Weston.
Burial was in the Union Chapel cemetery.
